Different binding methods will affect the page imposition in the previous design. The most common binding method for notebooks is saddle stitch binding.

First of all, what does saddle stitch mean? Saddle stitching is to bind 2~3 stitches or thread through the thread like a sewing machine at the center spine of the finished product to fix the entire print, and then trim the three sides other than the binding edge to complete the booklet print. It uses non-pre-made staples. During the binding process, the machine cuts a section from the coiled metal wire, nails it into the paper, and fixes the wire on the other side of the paper.

Saddle stitching is a common binding method for books with a small number of pages. It has a wide range of applications. It is often used in picture albums, atlases, magazines, periodicals, brochures, product manuals, introductions, personal data, business books, etc.

Saddle stitching is a commonly used binding technology, often used in books, magazines and other printed materials. The advantages and disadvantages of it are introduced below. It is fast and convenient, and the book opening degree can reach l80 degrees. It is often used in the book printing and book printing industries. Saddle stitching is inexpensive and simple; printing and binding can be completed at one time, and the production speed is fast; the book can be opened completely flat for easy reading; editing is easy to do cross-page processing.

When editing saddle stitching, pay attention that the center page is smaller than the outer page. For thicker paper, it needs to be processed in advance. Saddle stitching cannot process a book that is too thick. First, the spine of the book will bulge obviously; second, the greater the thickness, the greater the impact on the lateral size of the book block, and the center is easy to move; third, when the finished product is cut, the spine will go up and down. The mouth is easily broken. For example, for a sample of 157 grams of double-sided copperplate paper with 16 karats, the page number should be controlled within 40 pages. The smaller the format, the page number will be reduced accordingly. If the book is too thick, other binding methods should be adopted.

Before deciding to use saddle stitch binding for printed matter, you need to pay attention to the following points.

1. There is no obvious spine in saddle-bound booklets, which is not conducive to display, storage and retrieval.

2. The closer the inner pages of saddle stitching are to the center, the more they will be squeezed out. The extent of squeezing is proportional to the thickness of the paper and page number. Some will cause the inner pages to be narrower than the pages near the cover.
